Two dogs on stairs

Our Story

We began our journey together in 2004 (coincidently the year Kim took her first pottery class).  20 years later we are going strong and enjoying our family of two teenagers and two dogs.

We both individually have enjoyed arts & crafts hobbies our entire lives, but about 5 years ago we took our first joint pottery class and we LOVED it. After taking many more classes and working in other ceramics studios for years, we decided we wanted to create our own space to continue our journey. We are excited to build a creative community where members can relax, learn, and share their own skills with others.

Kim owned and operated a small graphics arts business for 13 years, and is currently working in the office of a local elementary school. She loves the energy and variety working in a school brings.  John has been a tech worker for over 25 years and now relies on pottery for balance and mental health.  It's his zen.

As we build Portland Clay House, we aspire to listen to feedback and make it the most welcoming space it can be.

We hope to see you in the studio.
